Commercial Architecture Services

Commercial architecture starts by determining how the intended use fits the site or existing building. We carry those findings into planning, design, approvals, and construction for four core project types.

01

New Commercial Buildings

Develop the building and site together. Services can address feasibility, site selection, building design, circulation, parking, materials, and presentations for planning or design review.

02

Tenant Improvements

Plan interior and related building changes for a new tenant, operation, or layout. Space needs, accessibility, lighting, finishes, and agency requirements are considered as the design develops.

03

Commercial Renovations

Update an existing property around its current condition and future use. The work may involve reorganizing space, resolving accessibility concerns, and preparing documents for agency review and construction.

04

Adaptive Reuse and Historic Properties

Establish a practical new use for an older building without losing the features that define it. Historical evaluation and research guide planning, design, and review decisions.

We also coordinate site design, consultants, and agency submittals. For larger developments, master planning organizes land use, circulation, parking, and future growth.

Our Commercial Architecture Projects

These completed projects demonstrate experience with both ground-up commercial development and the renewal of historic buildings.

01

Healdsburg Square

A 30,000-square-foot, two-story mixed-use building with ground-floor retail and second-floor offices, designed to complete the missing side of Healdsburg's historic downtown plaza. Its form and materials blend into Healdsburg's historic vernacular and scale.

02

Letitia Building

A National Register landmark built in 1889. Originally five stories, this adaptive reuse added a full basement level to house a large legal library and converted the building from retail/residential use to retail and law offices. As a stone structure, it was fully seismically upgraded to California's strict earthquake code.
