Muir Woods National Monument
|
John Muir called this old-growth redwood forest, the best tree-lover's monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world.
Muir Woods Master Plan inclduded ADA Pathways, a gift shop, snack stand, dining hall, amphitheater, and restrooms. The improvements facilitated a large increase in visitor traffic while maintaining the Department of Interior's goal of no increase of developed area. The pathways, built with recycled lumber, were elevated from the forest floor to protect the ecosystem from increased foot traffic. |
